Greetings all. I'm traveling to Tallinn, Estonia towards mid May. I
wonder if anyone can answers a few questions for me.
Specifically:
Does anyone recommend traveling outside of Tallinn? If so, where?
I understand that Estonian currency is not available in the US. Is the
best exchange rate commonly found at the airport?
I'm a vegetarian. Anyone know what the scene is like there?
Lastly, any recommendations with respect to the Tallinn nightlife?
Cheers,
Rob

Yes, some nice cities as Tartu and Viljandi could be worth a visit.
Also Pärnu with good beaches (although May possibly isn't the best time for
a bath)
Some of the nature in Estonia is well preserved (some of it better than
elsewhere in Europe) and Lahemaa national park is something especial.
On the other hand you'll also see parts of the landscape horribly destroyed
from the nasty Soviet occupation but they're doing the best to repair those
wounds.
The city of Narva could be seen as an example of horrible Soviet
architecture.

You'll find many exchange offices in Tallinn, there's in the rail station
and in the sea-port. Don't think there's a significant difference in
exchange rate between them but try to look out.

Don't know. Think the average restaurant will arrange something on request.

Yes, at the ATM. ATMs are easy to find in Tallinn. Just make sure you use an
ATM card and not a credit card.

It's kind of funny that you posted this link since it seems that there
are only two restaurants that are non-smoking. Yikes!
>>Fast food chains Hesburger and McDonalds are non-smoking.

Rob

I just came back from tallinn
It is a very nice town with a delicious old town centre.-
there are a lot of medioeval styled restaurants
with music and shows
but in all restaurants I have been
smoking was allowed.-
by the way..
a good meal for two was about 25 eur..
with drinks ( local bier.. not so bad )
