Default Train'ing in Croatia

Does anyone out there know how to get a rail pass that covers Croatia?
I feel like I have looked everywhere and can't even find information
on a single country pass for Croatia or point-to-point tickets in
Croatia.

Also, any information on Croatia in general--good places to go, etc.,
would also be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!

You don't say which country you're from, but if you've lived in Europe
for at least 6 months than you can get a Euro Domino Pass which is valid
for a choice of 3 to 8 days in a month. Prices (in euros) from:

http://www.bahn.de/pv/angebote/inter...o_preise.shtml

Croatian Railways (HZ) have a site which should give fares:

http://www.hznet.hr/ seems to be all in Croatian, but looking at the
pattern of information, http://www.hznet.hr/hr/putnicki/posebna.htm
seems to be quoting first and second class one-way and return fares
between Zagreb and Sibenik, Split, and Zadar (Zagreb-Split is the
highest fare quoted but it seems to be showing 40% discount, 81.60 kuna
2nd class one way, 120.90 1st class one way, return fares are double).
(100 kuna = 13.22 euro = US$ 15.55)

www.croatia.hr is the Croatian National Tourism Board's site.

I forgot to mention I am from the United States. However, thanks for the
information. Any other information on "out of the way" places would be
wonderful. Anyone have any tips or suggestions. I have never visited
Croatia and I will be travelling there for a few weeks in the end of
June/beginning of July.

Thanks again,
C

You may be interested in knowing that the train does not go all the way down
to Dubrovnik (where you must go). It stops in Split. Nor will it do you any
good if you want to explore the islands. Busses and ferries are more useful
on the coast.

Well, I would like to see a little of everything, but we will concentrate
on the coast. I would like to go to both popular beaches and beaches that
are off the beaten track. I have heard something about a big blue hole--do
you know anything about this? Is it worth going to see? I have also heard
that Plitvice Lakes Park is very beautiful--is it worth stopping on the bus
from Split to Zagreb?

What are some good islands to visit? Hvar? Vis? Korcula? Northern islands?

Also trains vs. ferries vs. buses--what's the best way to get around the
coast area, and also whats the best way to get to Zagreb from the coast?

I thought we might take a ferry from Italy to Dubrovnik, spend some time
there, head up the coast to the Split area, and then go to Zagreb. I know
that these are the big tourist places, and am interested in finding less
touristy places along the way. And what are some fun activities to do in
these places? I am not as interested in museums and churches, but maybe
some castles/palaces would be cool (I saw too many museums and churches
last time I was in Europe). Oh, and what are some good traditional Croatian
dishes? I really enjoy sampling the local cuisine, but it is hard when I
can't read the menu. Also, we are young, and are interested in finding some
fun nightlife.

Any input is very greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Courtney and Eric
