Is this true ? Though when i put the details in the site it shows fares of 87GBP return ? What am i missing here?

For when are you booking? The GBP 25 is a special offer and will sell out
quickly. Try booking earlier/later trains and see if the fare is available
on those other trains.

Yes, from GNER ticket desk or there may be machines which issue advance
purchase tickets.

Yes, it's true - BUT - as with airfares, much depends on how early you
book, and what dates and times you wish to travel. Return fares range from
GBP25 to GBP279!
Even if the GBP25 tickets are not available, if you book early, you can
probably get an APEX return at GBP52.

That's what I generally do. Just make sure you leave enough time to wait
in a queue. I've only once had a problem with tickets purchased this way.
The problem was eventually resolved (I had a printout of the details,
including the time and date I called, and the name of the order taker), but
make sure you allow enough time, just in case.
