My wife and I were there a few months ago. We stayed at a hotel near
Piazza Navona. The taxi fare was about 15 euro, I believe. I could be
a bit off though.

You're quite a lot off. The basic fare was 40 euro and something a few
years ago, with additions for extra passengers, luggage and odd hours.

Given the cost of the taxi I took there that took us on a 20 minute
joy ride against our protests to what turned out to be a destination
two blocks away (had arrived in the dead of night, middle of summer,
after a 16 hour train trip where the a/c had broken and could hardly
walk), about e20,000 or so. Taxi rider beware.

If your 20 Euro were to turn out to be the actual amount, no
bewaring would have been necessary. 20 Euro is around half (or a
little under half) of what the actual fare is.
