When I hear about people being robbed it seems that they are almost always
with a group. People tend to think they are safer in a group when they are
actually easier prey unless the whole group is vigilant.

This much appears to be true. He was probably a target not so much
because he appeared to off his guard, but incapable of guarding.

There is a good chance, when dealing with pros, that regardless of
what you guard, it is what you don't that they will target. They
are fast and flexible.

No, but it is not always about being off ones guard either. As someone
else suggested, in this case it appears to be merely a case of trying
to guard too much.

Not anymore. Over the last months, several big train stations in Germany
have been closed down completely for one or two hours after an unattended
bag was found. In one case, it *was* a bomb, while all the others had been
just bags.
