Stansted to London

Hello All,

I am trying to fly out of London Stansted and was looking for the best (cheapest) way
to get there from London. I will be staying in the St. Pancras area.

Really two options.

1. I would like to fly out early (say 7:30a) But I was not sure i could get there
that early for cheap.

2. If getting there that early is much more expensive or not possible on public
transport, what would be a good way to get there.

Thank you so much. Many of you have helped me already by answering other peoples
questions.

Thanks again

Train would probably be the most convenient. Coach is probably cheaper.

You could leave the day before and spend the night nearby in a B&B.

I've always used a rental car after considering the pros and cons of dropping the
rental car off at Stansted vs. dropping off in London.

My father was comfortable enough with a coach trip; but then he flew out around noon.

Here's a link to transport info to and from Stansted with prices:

The bus leaves Victoria every hour on the :05 according to this timetable:

And here's the link to the Stansted Express train timetable from Liverpool Street

Stansted to either Edinburgh or Glasgow

I'm on a flight that arrives at Stansted at 1:00 on a Friday afternoon in July and
need to continue on that day to either Edinburgh or Glasgow. There will be three of
us traveling together with luggage. What do you suggest? Thanks.

From Stansted you can get a train to Edinburgh either changing in Peterborough or
changing in London. Via London you would have to transfer from Liverpool Street
Station to Kings Cross Station. To Glasgow you would need to travel via Euston
Station in London. It would be between 5 and 6 hours to Edinburgh, between 6 and 7
hours to Glasgow.

Not necessarily. Many of the Edinburgh trains continue to Glasgow. See
http://www.railtrack.co.uk/ for timetables.

Hi

I went through Stansted twice this week.

Although renting a car, I checked out the train info for you.

Trains every 15 mins, starting at 05.00.

Normal cost GBP 26 return, but being sold on the plane (Ryanair) at GBP 17 return

Ryanair actually flies to Prestwick, on the Ayrshire coast. There are trains from the
airport to Glasgow though - two per hour, taking roughly three quarters of an hour.

You can also fly direct from Stansted to either Edinburgh or Glasgow (the real
Glasgow airport this time) on Go. www.go-fly.com

For goodness sake, don't take the train - far too much trouble - best to fly
seeing as you're already at the airport - I'd second Chris Cooke's suggestion of
flying with Go.

If I were travelling to Glasgow or Edinburgh from the U.S.A. I would fly into those
cities rather than fly to London and take a train, but I would do it on one ticket. I
would be very cautious about booking a completely separate domestic flight. I would
want to know what would happen if the international flight was late and I missed the
connection to Scotland. Would I forfeit the fare as a no show? And I would want to
know about luggage. If the luggage was delayed, would it be sent on to Scotland?
