hi, im looking for a place to camp in the south of france (preferably in the
cannes / st. tropez area, but not necessarily). If you know of any locations
(or could indicate me where to find the info), it would be greatly
appreciated.
thanks in advance

This *might* be of help.

I have stayed at a site in Agay - "Agay Soleil" which was always pretty
good and right on the shoreline.

do a search in the hotel section of the Michelin site, and check 'campings'
in the options menu. www.viamichelin.com

Actually we found a nice little campground in Alet Les Bains (Pyrenees)
At the time it was owned by an English couple. The exact location is right
behind the old abbey.
Alet Les Bains is on the D118 south of Carcassonne which is a nice visit to
a fortified town.
The Perpignon area is also nearby and has nice beaches and campgrounds.
We also enjoyed camping in Corsica. If memory serves me right the
campgrounds were just outside of Calvi.
To get there you can take a ferry from Nice.
These are my 3 recommendations and perhaps others can add some more.
In general, I wouldn't recommend camping on the Riviera (miss) during the
holidays because it is very busy
and there are many stoney beaches.

There is camping near Cannes, in Antibes. It is about a 20 minute drive and
the commuter trains stop right there too. The beach is a short walk but
it is
stones instead of sand although no one seemed to mind. There are three or
four camps in the same area and I think the largest one is called Camp
Pylone.

We have stayed at this site (although not under canvas)
http://www.domaine-du-colombier.com/som_an.htm
Our review of the site:
http://www.ospreyweb.pwp.blueyonder....ers/01_09c.htm
Much of it relates to a mobile home but will give a little idea of what the
site is like.

try a search on St Maxime (across bay from St Tropez). There was a
campsite *years* ago.
