Right, and so it is pointing away from the ETA towards an Islamic terrorist
group.
We just return today from a visit at one of France`s maximum security
prisons.
According to the person we visit
1) The ETA terrorists there in prison don`t believe in the ETA being
responsible. The ETA trys for specific politically
important targets, not blind attacks. ETA prisoners said if it is ETA, they
will depart from the organization.
They also condemn any other groups who attacked.
They turn out to be the most rational!!
2) The general prison population thinks it is Al Qaeda. If so, most don`t
condemn Al Qaeda saying that they are attacking the system. The guy we visit
can`t discuss this with them rationally, they are "nuts". In supporting
Al Qaeda they break French law, it is illegal to be an apologist for a
crime.
In fact, some prisoners have already been tried and convicted of doing
this a few years ago.
This attitude is different than after 9/11 when the general prison
population, except for some Arabs, condemned the attack on the WTC. Too
many innocent were killed. The Pentagon attack is considered different, a
military target. But not the the WTC.
We are astonished and dismayed that support for Al Qaeda has
spread to the general prison population and become a majority opinion. But
that population is particularly angry right now with the large increase
in prison populations and deteriorating conditions in French prisons.
