arranged some electrons, so they looked like this :

They'll be paying for their hotel room for the rest of eternity...

Which is odd as checking on the hostels website there are still plenty
of beds for thursday and friday in the 25 Euro range...

Weekend seems more of a problem which is when I'm there
(coincidentally)

For this week, I would want direct confirmation from a property
manager, that will also be there on the day of my arrival.

well... if your reservation was - say - 75 eur, some manager could send you
home with a full refund and rent your room for 200 eur and still he's
making money... hope this does not happen but you never know.

And that's for a 1/2-star room, I bet. 1-star rooms ask for your first born... ;))

I booked on Monday a single room in a 3-star for 55 euro/night, received
confirmation from www.venere.com, e-mailed the hotel direct, and also got a
reply from the management. I've printed it all out and will take it with me
tomorrow.

Not all that random, nor unique. I suspect there will be a
conspicous
use of helicopters. Truth is, a terrorist could hit the mother lode
that day. Multiple US Presidents, world leaders from about the entire
spectrum of political philosophies, virtually the world's Catholic
leadership, and just a whole hecka lotta ordinary folk. The US SS has
got to be absolutely mashugga about this.

And no metal detectors. . . .

I think there will be conspicuous use of bulletproof vests.
