SNCF Question
Hello,
I live in Barcelona and I am planning to fly into Geneva on October 4th and would like to take the train to Grenoble. I do not understand the website. I do not want tickets delivered to my home in Barcelona but would like to pick them up at station in Geneva. The website will not let me move forward in my online booking unless I give them my mailing address for sending the tickets to my home. Recommendations? Best Regards, Drew |

Re: SNCF Question
OK. I chose Switzerland as my country and at the webpage where I am
forced to enter my personal information they still say: Confirm your order by paying online and choose to: Receive your ticket free by post This are no choices! Below, they ask for my personal information which includes my mailing address for sending the tickets in the section: Check the fields entered before validating. Your file references will be sent by e-mail. You can then use them to collect or print your tickets. Does this mean they will give me a file reference and tickets will be both sent AND/OR I can print them? Cheers, Drew |

I'd say that it would be the easiest choice to mail the tickets to your home adress. I've bought tickets many times from their web site and mailing addresses have been in Finland, Sweden, Germany and Switzerland. Always without any problems. Second thing is that if you choose the collect the tickets from Geneva it'll be more expensive. Last time when I ordered tickets from Geneva to Paris by TGV it was 25 euros including postage. If I would have choosen the picku-up option from Geneva train station the price would have been 140 Francs (about 90 euros). |
Re: SNCF Question
Hello,
I am not certain about this. On the website it says: IMPRIMEZ VOTRE BILLET Prem's, Offres Dernière Minute ou Thalys I don't think my Billet is any of these three? Drew |
Re: SNCF Question
Hello,
I live in Spain and the ticket office is in Madrid. I do not trust the slow spanish system. On the other hand, voyages-SNFC did not present an option on the website for picking them up. This is what I am worried about. Drew |

I don't think my Billet is any of these three? That site is notoriously hard to use. At least twice I lost patience and actually went to the train station - but that's not something you can do. Mind if I ask why you don't want the tickets sent to your house? Otherwise, don't you have an address in Geneva (a friend's, maybe?) where to send them? Buying the tickets in Geneva is not an option? What about a travel agency? |

When I have "web ordered" tickets to different countries from SNCF they has always mailed the tickets from France. Last time I ordered the tickets on 30th of June late in the evening and the post stamp says that it has been mailed on July 5th |
Re: SNCF Question
My only reason for not having them sent to my house is becuase I don't
think they will arrive in time. Today is the 24th and I am departing for Geneva on the 4th (I live in Barcelona). Can I buy the tickets at the train station in Geneva? Or do I have to buy them ahead of time. I do not understand the system. Cheers, Drew |

It is still pretty common in France that prices are shown in EUR *and* FF. CU, Martin |
