Default Small Italy trip report

I ´ve just returned from a two week journey in Toscana and Umbria. I
stayed at Hotel Stipino, Lucca for 6 days (Thanks Barbara), visiting
Pisa and Livorno by train and Garfagnano region and San Gimignano by
car. Next I stayed at Hotel Il Roscio, Attigliagno for 5 days, near A1
motorway exit, nothing special but very convenient for fast access
(and mainly return) to (from) destinations. I visited not only small
towns and villages in the region, but also main towns as Spoleto,
Foligno, Todi and Spello. I also visited the region of lake Bolsena,
Viterbo (by train) and the strange "Parko dei Monstri" of Bomarzo.
Every night dining in wonderful Orvieto, 10 min driving on motorway
and easy parking facing the exit of funicular in the old town. Finally
for the last two days I stayed at Hotel Duca della Corgna, Castiglione
del Lago (Trasimeno) from where I enjoyed the magnificent driving -
visit to Montepulciano - Pienza - Montalcino, ending late afternoon at
Sienna. Weather wonderful for this period (October 2 - 15) and happy
end at embarkation port of Ancona for coming back to home (Greece). A
final comment, to my great delight I didn´t find smokers in all
restaurants or trattorias neither motorway autogrills I dined. Is
smoking prohibited in all dining-rooms in Italy by law?

Looks like you've seen it all.
Those are all beautyful places. Smoking is allowed in restaurants but not
appreciated.
Often people complain when I bring a heavy smoker for dinner and we are
moved to an other part.
