We are travelling to Poland for 6 days (Krakow and Tatras) and then have
another 5 days before due in Munich. We are looking to travel to Bratislava
by bus-train, and then spend 4 days in Bratislava, maybe with side trips to
Vienna.
Any information on Bratislava would be welcome, espcially on hotels or good
restaurants.
Thanks
Don

Don,
I would just go to Vienna and take a day trip to Bratislava, unless you
have a reason to stay in Bratislava. Or use Budapest as a stopover point
on your way to Munich. It may be more interesting and is less expensive
than Vienna.

4 days for Bratislava? I would trim that down to 1 day, and spend some time
in the other parts of Slovakia, or maybe even Poland. Bratislava is one of
the least remarkable capitals in Europe. Maybe spend some time in the
Slovakian part of the Tatras - it's really spectacular!

I agree...
Bratislava, as nice as it is, can be done in a day. Budapest, on the other hand, is an ideal stopover point. In the summer, there are hydrofoil trips up and down the Donau from most big cities, including Vienna and Budapest., so you can see lots of sights that way.
The Tatrys are the best! As one with ancestors from "Trans Carpathia" ( or Reuthenia as it was called at one time) I can agree that the scenery is amazing. Enjoy. And be sure to try some smoked sheepsmilk cheese while there (we pronounce it "oss-cipek")---delicious with some cold beer!
