I will be visiting Seville at the end of May/beginning of June and would
quite like to spend a day at the coast - somewhere which is not too
touristy and still has a Spanish feel to it.
From the guidebook, Chipiona on the Costa de la Luz seems to be fairly
traditional Andalucian - is this the case? Other suggestions welcome.
Also, although I've found the departure times for coaches from Seville,
the Spanish timetables don't give any clue as to how long the journey
will be. Any estimates of how long this journey will take and whether it
is feasible as a long day trip would be welcome.

Chipiona is pretty touristy but it's an interesting town. Sanlucar, nearby,
is perhaps what you may prefer. The Quadilquivir river that flows through
Seville enters the Atlantic near Sanlucar. Your dates would probably
coincide with the annual "Feria de Manzanilla". Manzanilla is the sherry
produced locally - it's quite dry and excellent with fish and other sea

There are a number of nice restaurants down on the river (on the Bajo de
Guia) the most famous is CASA BIGOTE http://restaurantecasabigote.com and
you can visit the Museum in the old ice factory. It's quite a big town so
you would find plenty to do. And it is not too touristy.

Los Amarillos is the name of the bus company doing the ride from Seville to
Sanlucar. buses are hourly from Seville (I believe) and cost is about Euros
6 one way. I think the journey cannot take more than about 2 hours at most,
probably 1 and a bit.
But there are plenty of other options !

Very Andalucian, sort of southend for Andalucians, rather old
fashiobned IMO, that part of the coast does not generally have foreign
package tour development. There is also Sanlucar, more of a town, less
of a resort.

Hi

I was in Sanlucar some years back and did the tour into the
nature reserve area. Naturally we were shocked to hear of the
pollution spill there, has the area recovered ok?

Yes. Actually, the polluted flow didn't get to enter the National Park. Only
a few areas of the natural reserve that surrounds the N.P. were affected.
