A clear warning to visit elsewhere in europe. I'm glad that none of my
trips this year expose me to the dangers of flying into the UK.

I usually stay away from political and quasi-political threads on this
newsgroup, but I'll make an exception in this case. I live a couple of
miles from Heathrow, about fifty yards from the perimeter fence of RAF
West Dryaton, the air traffic control centre. Consequently, I am a bit
of potential collateral damage if anyone takes a pop at those targets.
The message from Mr Griffiths to the British government seems clear:
"Thank you for your support. Unfortunately, that support has made
Britain a terrorist target, an one that American tourists should avoid."

Current affairs in Europe is not your strong point is it?
Lets see the Algerians are pretty pissed off with the French
government.
The Basque separatists are pretty pissed off with the Spanish
government.
The south Molluscans are pretty pissed off with the Dutch government
Europe is currently swamped with refugees and asylum seekers from
countries that the USA has pissed off.
Turkey is currently really worried about being invaded by Iraq
Swiss ATC has problems stopping the only two planes in their airspace
from hitting each other
The Americans and British are currently really pissed off with the
French, Belgians and Germans, and on top of that its pretty damn hard
to fly almost anywhere in Europe from N America without overflying the
UK at some point.
So where abouts in Europe was it that you felt safe?
I also might remind you that the last MAJOR plane hijack occurred in
the USA.
However given world politics at the moment, i feel the antarctic would
be about your safest bet for travel.
Of course not traveling at all may be your safest bet, after all you
would be pretty safe from a nuke behind your plastic sheeting and your
duct tape wouldn't you?
