The UN was lied to. They made the mistake of eventually believing Bush.

Thanks to all of you for your reply. It seems I will try my luck this
summer

I just wanted to share with you this story

US families refuse French school trip

CARCASSONNE, France, June 2 (AFP) - Some 15 French students had to
cancel a planned three-week visit to the United States this summer
because of anti-French sentiment there sparked by the Iraq war, their
parents said Monday in a statement.

"We do not think that we can assure you a comfortable and hospitable
visit, since anti-French sentiment here in the United States is rather
strong," the US school due to host the students said in an email sent
to the USA Association of Languedoc last week.

The association has since 1976 sent groups of French students from the
southern town of Carcassonne for three-week stays in the US states of
Pennsylvania or Mississippi.

But this year four of the US families who were to have housed the
students refused to do so because France's position during the Iraq
crisis, the email said.

France bitterly opposed the US-led war in Iraq and the acrimonious
dispute sparked a torrent of anti-French comments from US lawmakers
and a wave of France-bashing in the United States.

The students due to make the trip "feel betrayed and humiliated," the
parents said in their statement.

Nicole Blanchon, who heads the Languedoc association, said she
"profoundly regretted this unilateral decision sent by a simple
email."

It's pretty mean-spirited to involve a bunch of school kids in such nonsense.
Rather like three or four posters to this newsgroup who seem unable to make some
snide off-topid remark about politics in every thread.
