Default RyanAir Experience?

Anybody care to comment on their experiences with RyanAir? Good value for money?
Reliable?

I see they fly into Stansted in England. What are the transport arrangements
like between Stansted and London?

Cheers!

Good value for money, no frills.
There's a train link to London (Liverpool St), 45-55 minutes travel time,
no changeover, each 15 min. Price: £21 return (2002)

Certainly

    > Reliable?

Sort of, be aware that they dont interline baggage and accept
no responsibility for delayed flights, that said most flights
run fairly well.

There's a train service with a station in the terminal

I've flown them a couple of times but relatives and friends use them
frequently to visit me. They are quite often early, in fact, on the flights
to Linz and Salzburg. No frills. You can buy sandwiches/drinks etc on board
at rip-off prices if you're starving.

There is plenty of basic info at http://www.baa.com/main/airports/stansted/
Apart from the rail link to Liverpool Street station there are bus services
into London. A service called Terravision runs to Victoria and costs PDS
8.50 one way. Plus the National Express services.
Ryanair have always been good in my experiences of flying with them.

Don't forget ! Ryanair like travellers with little luggage. The weight
allowances are on the website. Think it's 15 kgs per passenger. This
is less than the norm.

Here!

    > Good value for money?

Went from "Frankfurt"-Hahn to Pisa (Italy). For 3 persons including all
fees we paid about 120 EUR for a return flight, so 40 EUR / person
(return). Seems fine to me.

    > Reliable?

In our case not too bad - the flight to Pisa was about 40 min late, the
return flight about one hour late. So not exactly on time, but I can bear
with that.

Frank

We use it quite often for our clients as well, from Italy and France to UK.
It is not bad at all if you considr the rates...especially the best offers!!
Of curse you cannot expect the same service and location/airports of the
mainstream airlines.....but is the same with cars....a Skoda is not a
Mercedes!

Following up to Terry Simmons

Value for money? Yes.
Reliable? Had no probs but not sure you get any support when
things do go wrong.

Downs
Low hold bagge limit 15K (usually 20+). 6 UKP a kilo excess.
Exagerate where some airports are near.

Less tangible
Mr O'Leary is obnoxious "arrivaderch alitalia" painted over Italy
flights is an example
Because they dont issue booked seats you spend ages in queues at
boarding point and then have to knock over old ladies to get a
good seat anyway.
On our last flight even the hostess (a student moonlighting) was
complaining how c*** they are.

I use them if there is no alternative that comes within 50 UKP

theres a motorway if you are driving, Google "stanstead express"

Cheap? Yes. Value for money? Debatable.

I have heard more horror stories of Ryanair passengers being in
difficulties than of all other airlines combined. Even when Ryanair is
at fault, they do nothing for people.

    >Downs

Perhaps a blessing in disguise: some people carry far more than they
need. Ten kilos of stuff is enough for normal travel (i.e. excluding
people relocating long-term, or those on holidays which require
specialist stuff like climbing gear).

    >Exagerate where some airports are near.
Where is Copenhagen?

That's by no means the worst of O'Leary. He is very obnoxious.

Did she tell you that she has to pay for her own uniform?

I never use them.

If I ever meet him I shall give him a punch on the nose (after
saying "my name is Padraig Breathnach").
