Rome & Pisa Questions

We will be in Rome for 5 nights, travel to Venice and Pisa for a few days return turn
to Rome and the same hotel for 3 additional nights. Does anyone know if the hotel
will keep our extra bag for us? We would like to take just one. Or, should we just
store it a the train station?

Also, is the tower in Pisa open for visitors? I have the official web site, but
there's no information about obtaining tickets.

And lastly, a general question. We've been to several musems and have seen people
painting reproductions. Some were so -so, some were top notch, at least to me. Are
these students or someone hoping to sell it? I probably can't afford one, but how
much would it run? I would take a faux Mary Cassatt any day.

Thanks.

There is no universal rule on this. I have usually had good luck storing a bag when
returning to a hotel -- but it probably depends on that hotel's space and general
level of organization. I wouldn't do it if they aren't equipped to give you a receipt
and put it in a storage room.

Depends on the hotel, I assume. Why not ask them?

I tried to find more information, but didn't succeed. I suggest you to write to the
Tourist Office to know something more:

There is info on this site www.italywithus.com/ click-on "News". Still no online
booking, so you must queue for a ticket for a later time. Regards, Walter

I was in Pisa on 28/29 Dec 2001. The tower is open for visitors, but you must book!
We got there about 10:30 and the first booking we could get was 15:00, we could not
afford to hang round for nearly 5 hours so had to pass it up this time.

If you open the home page and look in the yellow box on the right - under the map of Italy it says News - click on it.
Soon this will be moved to the travel page and the news will be changed.
