I read somewhere about a 2 hour Rome city tour that departs from the
train station. Now I can't remember where I saw this information and
can't seem to find it again. Anyone familiar with this tour? Any
advice about it?
TIA,

I think it is a hop-off-hop-on bus. I wouldn't be interested, as central
Rome is very walkable and there is excellent public transportation for
those few things are out of the way. You can get an all-day pass for the
metro and city busses that will pay off after three rides.
There are some good walking tours of Rome, usually focussing on historic
sites. I've heard good things about Scala Reale, and I've had good
experience with Mirabilia Urbis Tours. Both use guides with academic
qualifications. These can be particularly useful for the Roman Forum,
which is not very well marked.
My daughter once happened on a free tour of the Roman Forum that was
being used as a teaser to induce people to take a half-day tour with the
same group. She said it was a good tour. I don't know how often they do
these, or if you can count on finding them.
