We will be living in Florence for a couple of months -- across the Arno

Can anyone recommend good local restaurants -- especially small mom and
pops --

To start you off, there are two or three reasonable ones in Piazza Santo
Spirito, across Ponte S. Trinita and on your right in front of 'Chiesa di
San Spirito' although they have become victims of their own success because
they are now fairly popular and, accordingly, the prices have gone up. You
may also need to book during the holiday season. I have used one in Piazza
del Carmine. Can't remember the name but it is on the corner of 'Borgo San
Frediano'. It was not bad.

If you're looking for a place in the Oltrarno, we particularly
liked Pane e Vino.
