Rail pass good for S-Bahn?

In which cities is a rail pass good for travel via S-Bahn? I seem
to remember reading that this is only true in Munich and Berlin,
but what about Frankfurt?

I do not vouch for its accuracy, but this topic was covered
on www.flyertalk.com a few months ago with these results:

Both, S-Bahn and U-Bahn are both some kind of subway.
S-Bahn is operated by Deutsche Bahn AG. Your Railpass
allows for S-Bhan trains. Trams, Busses and the "U-Bahn"
(Subway) are not operated by Deutsche Bahn and you need
extra tickets. There 1-day passes available for (about) Five
Euros.

The S-bahn will get you to the Hauptbahnhof in about 15
minutes, and your German rail pass will cover it, as it is a DB
train. Like others have stated, buying a day card or 'tageskarte'
is a good idea, because it will allow you to use all downtown
public transport (U-bahn, Street-train, bus).
