question about riiing SIM cards
The riiing SIM card has been mentioned in the newsgroup recently, and
I'm thinking of getting one. Before paying £30 for the SIM though, I'd
really like to solicit some opinions from anyone who has used it, as it
does seem a little too good to be true.
Specifically, is the roaming service reliable, and is there a list of
roaming partners. I can't find the latter information anywhere on either
the riiing or unitedmobile websites.

Will do. I suppose the _one_ advantage is that I can at least check to
see if it 'works' before I go abroad- that is, I'll be 'roaming' with it
in the UK too, and can check to see if it makes outgoing calls, and ring
the number to check if incoming works.
Next trip out of the UK is Norway at the end of the month, so I'd like
to have the card before then.

Will do. I suppose the _one_ advantage is that I can at least check to

I had a look at their website and it seems almost too good to be true. No
more carrying 5 sim cards around with me (I currently have sims for Ireland,
Portugal, Germany, France and Italy) and having to let people know when I
move to a different country.
I'm buying one now!!
(although GBP12.80 does seem rather pricey for an EUR15 Top-up)

I had a look at their website and it seems almost too good to be true. No

suggest you look at them as an alternative.
(I could have bought mine in the US but would have been ripped of as hard
as your UK shop.)

If I pay 24 euro I expect to get 24 euro of air time. I have bought enough
SIM cards in Europe and Asia that I know you can get them without a setup
charge. My most recent purchase was with Vodafone in Barcelona where I paid
30 euros and got 30 euros of air time. No initial set-up charge.

Initially, I though that I would probably not use up the 30 euros of air
time since I was only there for 4 days but to my surprise I did. This was
probably because I used some air time very frivously thinking I had plenty.
I ended up buying a "recharge card" from a newspaper stand. It's a card with
a special code that you dial on the cell and it adds more to your air time.
Can't remember how much more air time I bought but I did have some left by
the time I left, but nothing that I would lose sleep over.
