Hi,
Can I depend on prices for accommodation dropping in September? I have
a budget of about 20-25 euros per night for accomodation for two
people during our trip in September to the dodecanse. Will that cover
us or do I need to take a tent!?
My LP guide book says prices normally drop by 50%. Does this really
mean that 50 euro hotel becomes a 25 euro hotel?
Any guidance or pointers will be helpful. We are planning to visit
Patmos and Leros.

In Sept 2001 we paid about $30/night at Pension George for a double on
Santorini (though not in Oia or Fira or on the edge of the cliff -
about a 10 minute walk from Fira), had a pool.
We paid about $25/night on Naxos at the ILION, steps from George
Beach..
We paid about $45/night at the Athos in Athens, air,, large room....
All had full bath, small frig, TV (Greek and German programming
mostly), good size rooms with 2 single beds.
We stayed in a dump on Samos (@Pythagoria) which was about
$12/night...but we only slept there one night and were hardly in the
room at all...just needed to be close to the hydrofoil for Patmos.
[Don't ask, wasn't my idea to go there, big waste of time, but my
sister was happy.]

From what I hear prices are quite different in some places in Greece now, with
plummeting of the dollar and the blossoming of the Euro. Plus, the Euro in
itself brought inflationary prices to Greece....
I would count on rooms being $10 to $30 now.
Something we will find out ourselves come September.
