I FOUND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION ON A MESSAGEBOARD WITH SUGGESTIONS
ON VISITORS TO PRAGUE:

The castle is worth the long uphill walk, mainly for the views it
commands over the city. You can buy different sorts of tickets when
you get there depending on how many of the buildings you want to look
inside - don't bother with the palace, but you definitely should look
at St Vitus Cathedral, it's amazing inside (and terrifying from the
outside).

If you're going out, head for the Old Town Square (Stare Mesto), and
branch out away from it (don't stay there). The Marquis de Sade pub
had a good atmosphere and was full of young, 'grungy' Americans - you
are more likely to get chatting away to random strangers there than
anywhere else we went. Bar Alcohol is worth a late night visit - it's
quite expensive but good for a ridiculous cocktail.

For eating, the magic word is 'pivovar' which means beer hall with
food i.e. they brew their own beer onsite, which means it's really
nice and fresh. The food in those places is a bit basic, just the
standard Czech stuff usually; stew and dumplings, but it's filling
enough and soaks up the beer, of which you will drink a lot.

The maddest thing we did was go to the State Opera - we got the
cheapest seats which were about £3. Really enjoyed it! Spent most of
the time trying to read the programme thing in the dark trying to work
out what the hell was supposed to be happening, but it was really
different and it is a good spectacle. The performances tend to be in
the early evening so still plenty of good drinking time left.

And here is a good FAQ on the city and the rest of the republic:
