But my first gut instinct when I saw one was that I hated this thing. The ad slogan then was, "You already know how to use it." My retort was, "...because it doesn't do much of anything." In those days, PCs ran DOS and didn't have any sort of GUI. I also have never much cared for the mouse. Give me a bunch of Alt-Ctrl-Shift shortcuts instead of a sub-sub-sub-sub menu which brings up a dialog and then maybe doesn't even offer the command you wanted. I also liked Unix a lot, but now I'm sort of constrained to use a PC for my work because everybody I work with does. However, I think I would draw the line at a MAC. At least with a PC, I can find some hack to do almost anything I might want to do. -- Barbara Vaughan My email address is my first initial followed by my surname at libero dot it I answer travel questions only in the newsgroup |

I have found a combination of the two to be ideal for me. One move and click equals a two key combo. You know what my number one wish is? A keyboard with four simple buttons down the left hand side: Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo. Give me this on a Mac, and I might just convert. The function keys are awkwardly located at the top of the keyboard though, and I don't like more than two buttons and a wheel on my mouse, as it gets to easy to click the wrong thing. I look at some keyboards where they have extra buttons for checking email and opening browser windows, but can't understand why something like this hasn't been done yet. I think it's a great idea. -- --- DFM - http://www.deepfriedmars.com --- -- |
