Who put 300,000 Iraqis in mass graves? How many Algerians did the French
torture? How many Vietnamese? how many Laotians did the French torture in
French Indochina before they fled tail between their legs? How many of their
own citizens did the French murder following the Liberation? eh pops?

You keep whining about how Earl should post his observations in a more
appropriate newsgroup. Yet you never suggest such a group. If you are
going to criticize, you should be constructive about it.

I remember being using my bicycle in the streets in Savannah (Georgia)
in the 70's during a port call. I was looked at as if I were a Martian.
So no need of these no-brain TV series...to use our bikes...

It if it a matter of being off topic, I would suggest that Earl's interesting
observations from his travels are much more appropriate that is the whining about
it :-) I thought it was interesting. I remember trying to cross rue Haussman to
get to a cafe but having to wait as a seemingly endless stream of people on roller
blades skated by. It was interesting to see a number of police officers on roller
blades among the group.

Man they don't sell Peugeot bikes in the US any more. Nor Raleighs,
although I'm not sure if that was British.

The French fled with their tail between their legs?? You're just jealous because
they stuck it out there longer than the US did before it rain with its tail
between it's legs.

Raleigh is certainly a British brand, although the Nottingham factory closed
years ago, unable to compete with cheap bike imports from Asia.

If you think that's a valid yardstick, be my guest.
Perhpas I am naive, but I would have thought the US would qualify for
higher standards?
Anyway, pray tell us, what's your cutoff? How many more Iraqis can the
Bush gang and its miltary arm still kill before they do fully qualify for
the lable of mass murderers?
> How many Algerians did the French torture?
Might not be that terribly different compared with the US in Iraq? Note
that the French generals who condoned torture were dealt with in a way
that Bush so far has been reluctant to do.
(Now if we were to talk about the 1945 massacres in Algeria, that would be
another story, but one that France has tried very hard to forget. Mind
you, that was still in many ways a different world.)
> How many Vietnamese? how many Laotians did the French torture in

You really tihnk that was terribly different from the US war in Vietnam?
Until "they fled tail between their legs," that is.

Talking collaborators? A few were executed, but what else? Surely less
than the number of people executed yearly in the US?
Bottom line remaining that this holier than thou attitude, or the
arithmetics of murder is in all events a pointless exercise. Even if only
two Iraqis were tortured to death in Iraq, it's two too many. To the
extent this was condoned by GW, this does make him guilty of murder.

How is that?
(OK, perhaps it was not the CIA, merely military "intelligence." Or
private contractors dpoing the job for them. But who care, no matter who
it was, they do belong in jail. Together *especially* with those who gave
