Paris - Mid Oct vs. late Nov
Thinking of changing our itin, but it will cost a lot more points to
move it back to October. Weather-wise, is it going to make a huge
difference? Basically, would prefer 50's vs. 30's - 40's weather-wise
- prefer to sit ourside in cafes instead of inside! Less rain
obviously preferred. I know it's hard to gauge, but any good guesses
appreciated!

A difference, but not a huge one. November tends to be quite rainy,
October much less so.

Temperatures in the 30s and 40s (Fahrenheit) are not that common in
November nowadays. The city has gotten very warm all year long compared
to the old norms. I was running the air-conditioning last February on
some days.

There is definitely more rain in November. On some occasions I've seen
pretty much daily rain non-stop from November to February or so.

I think the biggest advantage of October versus November is the amount of
daylight--later sunsets. Does that matter to you? Good luck!

Brenda:
My husband and I spent all of last October in Paris. We had, like yourself,
hoped to enjoy some outdoor time, but that was not to be. The daytime
temperatures ran mostly in the low to mid 50s, and toward the end of the
month, 10 degrees less. Nights were probably 10-15 degrees cooler. We wore
wool - sweaters, wool pants, socks, lined leather jackets, sometimes hats
and occasionally gloves. And, of course everyone told us the weather was
most unusual in that it ordinarily doesn't get so cold! Oh yes, it snowed
lightly one day.
Nevertheless, the month was glorious!

Double-check the differences in hotel prices before changing your
tickets.

For interest sake (averages not being much of a predictor) you can get day
by day average temperatures, sunrise/sunset time, etc. at www.weather.com.
Click on the Averages and Records tab and then on the month you want to look
at.
