OT - Bush's War
Let's see -- Two Marines killed so far.
One was killed trying to secure an oil pumping station. The other was killed in an attack on an oil port. Tell me again -- what is this war about? |
Re: OT - Bush's War
You're right, OT it is, so keep it to the appropriate forum.
If you don't understand what the war is about, you are probably just not capable of it, so you might as well stop trying. Re: OT - Bush's War
I recommend Nordic Jet Line. Last summer I took the "Linda Line" boat
from Helsinki to Tallinn and it was terrible -- dirty, noisy, hot, and generally unpleasant. So, for my return trip, I changed to Nordic Jet and it was like night and day. The boat is a bit slower (it takes cars too), but much more pleasant. |
Re: OT - Bush's War
Maybe you could help us out with some info on it...
Most of the explanations about reasons for this war are not more than crap. It is certainly easier to sell some idea to somebody telling him that it's good for the population of Iraq (the surviving part...) if the rulers (let's limit it to just a couple of nations...) of the free world come to "help" this country (and by the same occasion get hold on some oil...) and chase Saddam and his gang. GWB and his gang never tried or maybe thought about a peaceful solution (and by the same occasion splitted up the rest of the world...) and just spend billions of $ moving troops and stuff to the other side of the world. As this guy always says "May God bless..." about everybody but himself and his gang... Who are the likely candidates? Iran? Cuba? North Korea? Probably Iran, because Cuba and North Korea don't have much oil. Or perhaps, if they are lucky, OBL will attack again around that time and they don't need a war for re-election. Sjoerd |

God help you become victorious' 'I want to say hello to Bush, to shake his hand' James Meek in Safwan Saturday March 22, 2003 The Guardian Yesterday afternoon a truck drove down a side road in the Iraqi town of Safwan, laden with rugs and furniture. Booty or precious possessions? In a day of death, joy and looting, it was hard to know. As the passengers spotted European faces, one boy grinned and put his thumb up. The other nervously waved a white flag. The mixed messages defined the moment: Thank you. We love you. Please don't kill us. US marines took Safwan at about 8am yesterday. There was no rose-petal welcome, no cheering crowd, no stars and stripes. Afraid that the US and Britain will abandon them, the people of Safwan did not touch the portraits and murals of Saddam Hussein hanging everywhere. It was left to the marines to tear them down. It did not mean there was not heartfelt gladness at the marines' arrival. Ajami Saadoun Khlis, whose son and brother were executed under the Saddam regime, sobbed like a child on the shoulder of the Guardian's Egyptian translator. He mopped the tears but they kept coming. "You just arrived," he said. "You're late. What took you so long? God help you become victorious. I want to say hello to Bush, to shake his hand. We came out of the grave." I know facts are tough to swallow for this group but look at the source of this story. The Guardian ! Not exactly a Bush supporter. I'll see you in Rome in two weeks. Michael Kennedy |

You're in good company, one of our own who was of Muslim faith killed many of our service people. Do you feel better now! How far back does your family go in Britain? Are you from Wales? Lisa |
