Default Operation Smile, CDG airport's low-cost answer to the expected stress.

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...airport11.html

"Jugglers, jazz musicians and a phalanx of yellow-shirted airport
escorts are just a few of the ways that Aeroports de Paris, the
Parisian airport authority, hopes to distract passengers from the long
lines and frayed nerves expected this summer as a result of the
partial collapse of Charles de Gaulle International Airport's newest
terminal building"

"Balloon artists may create funny inflated dogs, for example,
alongside a particularly long check-in line, or cartoonists may sketch
caricatures of grumpy faces in the metal-detector line. Passengers can
have their faces painted or get henna tattoos. Magicians will roam the
airport. "

Guess how they will recuit Magicians/Jugglers/Musicians/Tatooists who
will be interested in wages which are in line with a low cost answer?

How much you want to bet they'll blow the whole thing by hiring a mime?

You know, when I'm feeling grumpy the last thing I want to see is some
balloon artist intent on making me smile.

I didn't want to bring that up, but I foresee some mime abuse at CDG.

Indeed. They would be much better served taking the money they're
putting into clown acts and using it to allay CDG's numerous other
problems (delays, cleanliness, general inefficiency). CDG is my
least-favorite European airport because of these practical reasons,
not because of a lack of public entertainment.

I trust they have found someway of stopping the ballons from popping.
Could cause a bit of a panic :-)

I felt grumpy at CDG, and I wasn't particularly delayed. Maybe it's the
hugely overpriced food, or the stench of cigarette smoke throughout most
of the place, or the bland, dull architecture, or the infrequent bus
connections between different parts of terminal B- I don't know, but
I'll try very hard in the future to avoid changing planes there.

Normally you would have to visit Eurodisney for the experience.
