You might as well call it slave work, Magda. Most people who do not
have a college education are relegated to EXTREMELY low paying jobs
that do not even pay for basic living requirements such as food and
shelter. They usually work for minimum wage or very little more and
usually do not receive much in the way of benefits, certainly not paid
vacations. With the job market and economy in such a bad state these
days, even college grads are taking these kinds of jobs just to keep
body and soul together.
America takes advantage of people who are too poor to fight for
themselves.

I started work with 3 weeks plus public holidays. When I retired I was

My hubby gets one week vacation at Safeway-- after a full year of working
....he took a cut when taking that job....the supermarket is Genuardi's
which USED to be a decent place to work for until Safeway took over in
2001.... the grandfather clause applies to the pre 2001 employees who are
getting 3 and 4 weeks vacation and better wages ...2 weeks will be available
for him after 5 years..or is it 10 years ??
We cannot afford their health insurance because it is like at least 25% of
his gross pay ....
He works his a$$ off for them believe me!
