Train, indeed! There are several an hour and the trip is 20 to 25
minutes...
You can check the timetables easily: google Nice-Monaco and you'll get a
link the the Deutsche Bahn website, which lists all the trains in
Europe.

The bus trip from Nice to Monaco is a treat -- stunning views.
I don't know about the train, as I didn't use it. I was advised here
that the bus option was preferable.
I believe some of what I read here.

There is a train service from Nice to Genova that also calls at Monaco on
the way.
Excellent views during the trip.

There is a good chance that the train that takes you to Nice proceeds to
Monaco, which is just a few miles down the track. It goes right through the
middle of Monaco, which is about the size of a small town. The west bound
trains follow the coast.

I can't compare to the bus journey, but we were very happy with the
train ride. I'm sure the view wasn't as spectacular (a few tunnels) but
it was still a very nice journey.

I've done both, and the train is easy, but the bus ride is really terrific.
You get great views across Nice as you leave, there are great views over
Villefrance Sur Mer, and the rest of the ride through the coastal towns is
really pleasant. I like the train for convenience--it's a straight
ride--but the bus is very much worth it (and saves you a few steps once you
get to Monaco), and is also cheaper (what we thought were one-way tickets
are actually round-trip).

Though the bus leaves from the bus station--which is a 10 minute bus ride
from the train station. The train is more convenient if you are leaving
from the train station.
