Durham is a nice place for half a day. After dark it is a magnet for
every yob in every ex-mining village in the county to drag his ugly
face into town, get drunk, get into fights, and piss in the streets.

Now, as you say, Newcastle has the cultural attractions (Life Centre,
Baltic Gallery - yes, I know it's not in Newcastle) of other cities.
