Has anyone in this group driven over the Millau Viaduct? If so, how did you
enjoy the experience, and is there a place to stop and take photos before or
after you cross ? We're planning to cross the bridge on our way from Paris
to Barcelona within the next couple of weeks.
I've visited the website http://www.viaducdemillau.com/ , but would be very
interested to hear your personal experiences.

It looks best approaching from the south, as the road curves right and you
get to see the supports better. You don't really get an idea of the height
from being on the viaduct though.

Not legally, although quite a few local were stopping on the hard shoulder
to the north a few days after it had opened. I went down into Millau itself
to get an idea of the scale of the viaduct and to take photos.

That's a surprise, I thought there would be a viewing point, like with the
Forth Bridges, chance to make some money by selling cheap crap to tourists!

Look were the city of Salles-Curan is ( Viamichelin.com). The road D30 in
direction of the Viaduc gives some good viewing points.

It would also deter hoards of people from continuing to drive the
old road, so as to get a view of the new road and hence negating the
real object of the new road :-)
