Hello,
I will be traveling to Majorca(Mallorca)during the early part of
September. I am clueless as to where I should stay, or go for
day/night fun.
Hotels: I'd like to avoid staying in the commercialized areas(if there
is such a thing there) yet don't want to be totally isolated either.
Nightlife: Anything and everything in the way of advice would be
welcome here. Restaurants, clubs, bars etc.
General: beaches, sightseeing, getting around etc
Any suggestions from those of you who have travelled to Majorca would
be appreciated.
Thanks very much
T

The North of the Island is beautiful. Pollenca (Not Port Pollenca) is a
lovely town.

By commercialised, do you mean full of tourists? There are many
package resort developments, best avoided.
I would stay in the capital, Palma. You can then hire a car to
visit elsewhere or take the charming old train up to Soller and
on to Puerto Soller by tram.

We stayed in Sollier and loved it. Stayed at the Port-o-sollier hotel.
Rented a car for the day and hit the inland areas for shopping for leather
and pearls, and then hit the beach on the north side of the island. Would
be inclined to spend some time on the north side. Palma is not the
prettiest area. We stayed there on night and then took the tourist train to
Sollier.

We just got back from Mallorca, we stayed in Son Aslem however it was at
the Marriott and although a nice resort was not a typical Mallorcan place
more like a typical Marriott. Palma has some nice areas and some not so
nice it is somewhat central however. I can recommend Pollenca as a nice
town in the North Stay away from Alcuadid. The following restaurants were
very good. Cabilto del mar in Palma near the port, Flanigans in Puerto
del Porta faces the port beautiful setting good food, Moli can Pari in
S'arenal great mallorcan barbeque, Son Salma just outside of LLucmayor on
the road to Porres. this place was phenomenal we sat on a porch and
watched the sun set in over Calabra the food was superb as well. mallorca
has nice beaches and a variety of beautiful scenery don't miss Cap
formenter a light house at the end of the North peninsula( quite a scary
drive but doable) you will need a car to get the most from Mallorca in my
opinion. we did not do much night life as a typical time to go out to eat
is around 9pm although the restaurants open sooner.. DZ
