What is the best place to get admission tickets in advance and avoid the
massive entrance lines/queues?

Provided you are going to more museums then just the Louvre get the
Paris Museum Pass. It can be purchased at TI, main metro station, and
most other museums in Paris.
You will still need to go through the entrance queue, which is quick,
but you will get to skip the ticket purchase line which is slow. Also
if you are planning to see exhibits that charge an additional fee bring
euro coin, the last time they had automated machines but IIRC they did
not accept bills only coins and credit cards.

If you don't mind spending the money get a museums & monuments pass and
go in thru the special entrance in the Richelieu wing.

FNAC also sells Louvre-only tickets.
