long distance coaches
Hello,
I want to travel through Europe in a cheap way so I thought about long
distance coaches.
But I also want to be free, so I want to get on the bus and off the
bus whenever I want.
Do you know various companies who offer such a thing?
It can start anywhere in Europe...
I would be nice if you could give me some tips.

Eurolines certainly has some amazing deals regarding prices, but it is
worth noting that they only stop at major cities on major routes. That
still means tens, if not hundreds of cities across, but is far more
restrictive than the tens of thousansds of stops available on the
railway passes.
Bear that in mind when planning and weigh the extra flexibility of the
rail passes against the extra economy of the coach passes. My gut
feeling is that if this is your first trip to Europe, the smaller but
still extensive Eurolines network should prove more than adequate. If
you've been over here before and want to scratch well below the normal
touristy surface, matters may be different.
Also remember that passes of either type are only really good value in
western Europe- they are not valid at all in eastern Europe (i.e. former
USSR), and in central Europe (east of that infamous line from Stettin to
Trieste, but west of the Prut-Pripjat line) they are valid but more
expensive than buying individual tickets, particularly on domestic routes.

Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria ... and Russia
all the rest.

I go by what the locals say, and certainly Croats, Czechs, Hungarians,
Poles and Romanians claim to be Central European. Who are we to argue?

Poles and Romanians claim to be Central European. Who are we to argue?
