Default London Security Question

We are planning on going to London on Boxing day. American tv is
reporting several arrests recently made regarding man tied to shoe
bomber and is suggesting security may be an issue over the holidays.

Would like to hear from someone in London as to the true story about
security and any terrorist issues London may have.

Thanks,
Debbie

You'll be perfectly safe in London as long as you take reasonable
precautions. There have been a few IRA bombings in recent years, but apart
from Canary Wharf, these have been minor. Lets face it, every major city in
the Western World is a potential target.

There is no real problem at present. Those arrested werent even
in London and there hasnt been a terrorist incident here
for years. The fact that these guys were reeled in before they
could act is actually a rather good sign.

The homicide rate in London is well below that of any major US
city , relax and have fun.

The last IRA bombing in London was several years ago and
unlike the terrorists in Iraq and Israel they try to avoid injuring
Americans as this pisses off the fundraisers in Boston

How would anyone in London know anything about "how safe they are" or
impending terrorist attacks? We sure didn't know about 9-11 in NYC before
it happened.

As long as you avoid far more dangerous places like Florida you should be
okay.

AQ could strike any city any time. The fact that 4 attacks have
been foiled in UK indicates that our security, honed on fighting
Irish terrorists for many years, is doing a good job. But if you
want guaranteed safety, stay home.
(The IRA are in a longterm (hopefully permanent) ceasefire).

Apparently there will be more armed police than usual on the streets in
London over the holiday. Whether that makes you feel more, or less, secure,
only you can say.

Well I'm not quaking in my shoes. All the recent arrests have been
well outside London, which suggests the authorities are well on top of
things, and if they're not London is a very large place anyway - the
chances of any one individual in 7 million being caught up in an
incident are not that great.

Try keeping an eye on the BBC website and

Would like to hear from someone in London as to the true story about

Do not let the buggers get to you and alter your plans as that is letting them win. London is plastered with CCTV and the anti terrorist agencies are experienced from the IRA problems.

Sad thing is a determined suicide bomber has as much chance of success in London as any US city. That means if you are worried about visiting London then you should be just as worried anywhere else.

Lots of people die at home. In terms of death frequencies, one's home is
particularly dangerous place.

You!American pig !
As soon you get off the plane you'll be blasted away by IRA terrorists
disguised as little old ladies pushing a pram.
Anyone can recognize an american over here in England, you won't get away
with it even if you hold your mouth closed.
Of course you know England is a very dangerous land and really I wonder what
you intend to do there...
Please please IF you really want to go, don't visit shoe shops !
