London flights to Ponta Delgada?
Anybody have any pointers on getting a flight from London to Ponta
Delgada economically?
Are there any discount airlines that go there or is it just charters?

No discount airlines fly to the Azores.
However, SATA, the Azorean national carrier, are starting scheduled flights
from London Gatwick to Ponta Delgada once a week on Tuesdays from 5th April
through until 25th October.

Prices start at about GBP 326 return - not cheap, but oh what beautiful

However, SATA, the Azorean national carrier, are starting scheduled flights
from London Gatwick to Ponta Delgada once a week on Tuesdays from 5th April
through until 25th October.

If you go to the Azores you should immediately book flights to all the
islands that you are plannig to visit, as the inter-island flights tend to
be full. You will also get a discount from SATA if you show your
international ticket.
The agents at the airport were very patient and helped us plan a reasonable
itinerary for hopping around the islands. The short ferry ride between Faial
and Pico offers frequent service but can sometimes be a bit rough for people
who tend to be seasick. Dramamine can be purchased at a pharmacy.
It's a great place to visit--much nicer than Madeira and offers unparalleled
natural beauty.
