Default London Entertainment Listings

Hello,

In my city there are a few free weekly newspapers that - aside from having
various news articles and columns - have comprehensive coverage and listings
of events in the city's music, theatre, film, etc. scenes along with reviews
of things from new CDs to restaurants. They don't cover only the
international/mainstream acts but lots of "underground"/local acts when it
comes to live music. They can be an invaluable resource in deciding what to
do with one's evenings. If anyone is left confused by my description, take
as look at http://www.montrealmirror.com/, it's the website of one such
newspaper here.

I'm going to spend a week in London in a bit over a month's time, so the
question is, what are London's equivalent newspapers and where can I get
copies?

Thanks!

Richard

The Evening Standard publishes the best free weekly listings mag (free with
the 30p paper on Thursdays), but the list of clubs isn't great.

Time Out is the best weekly listings mag, packed with detailed info about
all but the most underground events. It costs around 2 GBP.

You can find various other rags dotted around the place in bars and club
venues but they're not usually weekly, and generally they're out of date
anyway.

Time Out really has the market sown up!

Time Out london is sometimes available at American magazine
stands. I think I've seen it at Border's, for instance. Of
course, they're much cheaper in London.

And see http://www.timeout.com/london/

Many thanks to both Dave and Phil! I'll be sure to pick up a copy of Time
Out when I arrive in London and check out the website beforehand.
