Default London Day Tours

Hi all,

I'm visiting london (First time )and will stay there for 6 days/5
nights.

I'm thinking about taking some guided day (or overnight tours to
Edinburgh) tours from
http://london-tour.conciergedesk.co.uk/coach-tours.htm ?

Any inputs? Thanks.

I wouldnt do it

A one day tour is only going to give you 5 hours
in Edinburgh and will involve around 10 hours of
travelling time

An overnight stop will take a big lump out of
your 6 days , especially since if you are
coming from the states you'll be crashing out by
7 PM the first day

By all means see more of the country than London
I'd suggest one of the shorter tours such as
Oxford, Stratford and Warwick Castle
or Leeds Castle , Dover and Canterbury

AND they always say 6 days 5 nights in the brochures -- but what you
really have in a trip like that is 5 nights 4 full days - the arrival
and departure day tend to be chewed up by logistics and don't really
make for a 'day'

Having spend as little time as one evening in London and as much as 10
days at a time, I can appreciate whatever time you have --- but
certainly 4 full days is a very short time to enjoy the best of what
London has to offer.

If you must do a sidetrip -- taking a trip to Bath or other fairly
nearby spot would make more sense.

I would agree.

I have never understood the desire of people visiting the UK for a
short period of time to see each and every city, but do none of them
justice...

Thanks for all of your inputs!
I would love to spend more time in London. However, I wanted to see
more just because I might not be able to afford another trip for a
long while

Absolutely agree, Edinburgh's nice enough but there are plenty of
just-as-interesting cities much nearer which you can see in a day on
ordinary trains from London, as Keith suggests, without spending UKP 200.
For the same money you could go to Paris overnight by Eurostar! If you must
go to Scotland make sure you see the beautiful landscapes, not the cities.
Maybe take the sleeper train http://www.scotrail.co.uk/sleepers.htm up to
Fort William and have breakfast whilst crossing the incredible Rannoch Moor.

Fair enough, Andy, but I would agree with other posters that Edinburgh
is just too far in the limited time you have available. You'd do better
o choose a place within a couple of hours of London so as to get a
decent day there.
