You know what I thinkof Bush no doubt but I will admit that his opening to the speech where he welcomed the first ever *Madam* Speaker was extremely gracious and very well put. It showed that there is still much southern politeness in his soul. I salute him for that at least |

Donna Evleth> Donna, will you ever learn to google or are you resigned to the necessity of being spoon fed information by others that is so readily available in this day and age? Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Volume 49 Issue 5 Page 647 - MAY 2001 "...RESULTS: In both clinics, patients and family members were more likely female. The typical urban clinic patient was significantly more likely to be living in a facility and more educated than the typical rural patient. Urban and rural patients did not show significant differences in age- and education-adjusted MMSE scores or raw ADL/IADL ratings, but the urban family members reported more memory problems, twice as many personality changes, more-frequent behavior problems, and more adverse reactions to problems...." |

One can't smell anything but auto exhaust fumes in Paris in this day and age. The whole world knows you and Earl choose to live in one of the most polluted toilets in the world. Earl Evleth> For what it is worth, my wife and I last visited the Paris area several years ago, in June, staying in the Trianon Palace in Versailles for several days. Although our stay at the hotel was very pleasant and congenial, we vowed never to return to the Paris area due to discomfort from the the air quality in the environs. Neither of us are smokers or have respiratory problems. Since I am not a city person, I had visited Paris off and on maybe every other year or so since '68, usually for no more than a few days at a time. The excerpt below is unfortunately consistent with what we will remember about our last visit to the Paris metro area. However, I can't say Paris is any worse than some of our urban areas in the US which as non-urbanites we avoid also. http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/franenv.html "...In Paris, about 3 million cars enter the capital daily, and the resulting smog that engulfs the city causes health problems like asthma and chronic coughing, filling emergency rooms with people suffering from bronchial ailments. The French tourist industry is becoming worried that visitors to Paris will depart with memories of clogged streets, hazy skies, and pictures of the Eiffel Tower shrouded in smoke. France is also the biggest emitter of dioxins in Europe...." Reply Reply to author Forward |

Since my MAC isn't set up for wireles either, and I want to keep all the pictures I already have in one place, I'll go to the local library and transfer to the laptop and copy wirelss to the internet from there when I get time. I'll also dig out some old pictures of travels for the past 40 years and transfer them to the digital too. Been meaning to do it anyhow. Will do it when I get to it |

I'm not a Mac-ist but I deal with them occasionally, as far as I know there is no problÚm transferring them, IIRC the camera appears on the desktop when plugged in (if necessary after setting the camera to 'transfer', which some models require (see doc)) just like the Hard Disk and then you just copy the stuff off into a folder of your choice. |
