Default Left luggage Waterloo stn,War cabinet

Booked a trip through London and seem to have some time available for
something.
Arr by Eurostar to Waterloo stn 12:22 on a Tuesday and leaving from Stansted
18:10 by Ryanair I guess I've to catch a train from Liverpool street at
16:15 latest ?
Leaving 3½ h to explore and walk around.
Main question is if there's left luggage or lockers at Waterloo stn for a
small 5kg bag ?
Thinking about the War cabinet museum as something to do, being a short walk
over Westminsterbridge. Any suggestions ?

Yes, there is a large Left Luggage office at platform 11/12 at the
concourse, open 7 am-11 pm. Every item will be X-rayed for security. I don't
know the charge but usually £4-5 a day per item.
Cabinet War Room is interesting, but my favourite is Imperial War Museum,
about 10 min walk south of the station. Free entry (except special
exhibitions), it has modern, very informative displays. The Holocaust
Exhibition on 3rd floor is sobering but very good.

Thanks a lot. Haven't been to the Imperial War M so possibly it's a better
alternative as I guess I can spend all the time there ? Thanks again

Lennart, if I were you I'd be a bit more cautious in timing. If you hit
the wrong moments for the bus/Tube and the Stansted Express it could take
you 2hrs Waterloo->Stansted - and from recent Ryanair experiences I
wouldn't like to join the check-in queue less than 90 minutes before
departure!

On the other issue - Cabinet War Rooms and Imperial War Museum are very
much worth seeing, though I think you might be frustrated tackling the
latter with only a little time available.

Alternatively, if you're at all interested in 20th-century architecture
the South Bank complex (Royal Festival Hall etc.) is definitely worth
seeing and only a short walk from Waterloo; they might have lunchtime
concerts (classical) that would fit your schedule.

The Museum of the Moving Image (history of cinema) used to be in that
area, and was excellent, but I have a strange feeling it's either moved or
closed -- some years since I've visited it -- no doubt someone else here
knows...

If you felt very energetic you could also cross the river for a quick
visit to the National Portrait Gallery off Trafalgar Square, or to
Westminster Abbey or Cathedral.

Yes, I was there last month for 3 hours and could only see about 1/2 of the
exhibits. Fascinating stuff from WW1 and 2, and more recent conflicts, and
far less jingoistic than I feared. I thought the presentation was very fair
and even-handed.

Thanks for advice. Perhaps I've to add on some time for safety.

As Barney writes, you could be limited for time. Have you visited other
London museums before? From Waterloo, it wouldn't take that much time to
walk to the National Gallery, Tate Modern, or via tube to the British
Museum. I mention those three because they also have a luggage check,
which IIRC is free (certainly free at Tate Modern.) With those kinds of
places, I think you would feel much more able to just 'dip in' and see a
few different galleries, before going on to Liverpool Street to catch
the train to Stansted. I think with the IPW or the Cabinet War Rooms,
you'd wish that you could have spent longer- whereas with the big
galleries, it can be very satisfying just visiting a few different
rooms. But, you do mentione the Cabinet War Rooms in particular, so I
assume you have a great interest in seeing them, rather than just seeing
_something_, right?

Cabinet war Rooms come to my mind as it's in a reasonable distance from
Waterloo stn.
But those museums with left luggage service seem to be an excellent idea as
I can continue straight to Liverpol street after visit.
Thanks again for all help.
