There is a left luggage office on the station concourse, next to Boots
pharmacy. The left luggage office is open daily, 7am to 10pm. Cost £2 per
item. It is operated by First North Western.

I was pretty sure it had gone up to £3- I'm there quite a lot. Oh, and
several times, it hasn't been open at 7am, because of staff shortages.
The UK left luggage system at main stations is a real ripoff nowadays.
Lockers aren't used any longer, and many of the stations (e.g. those in
London) charge up to £5 per item, regardless of size. I don't know why
they can't use the locker system again- it works perfectly well
throughout most of Europe. I don't buy the terrorism thing either...
