Hi,
since my job doesn't allow otherwise, I will be close to Munich by the end of
Oktoberfest ...
So, which is better, Sunday 1st or Monday 2nd ... ?
I would like answers only from people that have actually been there cos I already have
enough opinions :-))

Yes I've been to the Oktoberfest many times including this year (!)
But what do you mean with best ?
Oktoberfest continues to Oktober 3 when there's a closing ceremony.
Generally you can expect the weekdays to be somewhat less crowded than Sa-Su
but not much and the tents are full all days. So why not try go on Monday
if the weather forecasts are good. Rest of Munich is as usual, not much
affected except that hotels are generally well booked.

October 3rd is a German holiday, so this year counts as a weekend
day.

IME the final Sunday of the fest is the quietest weekend day as
most of the long distance travellers start to leave but no new ones
arrive. Presumably they will all go home early on the final Monday
this year.
