I'm planning to go to Ghent (Belgium) for some time (erasmus for 12 months)
, I would like to have my car with me.
So I would like to carry it by train from Italy.
For Italian train company the service I'm looking for is called "auto al
seguito" and for German train company is called "autozug"
I would like to find if French, belgian or dutch (from holland) train
companies offer similar services, and how can I put my car on their trains
in italy and then to have it back in Belgium
could anyone help me?
thank you
Giulio

Unfortunately both the Belgian and the Dutch railways have abolished
their "auto train" services.
The French railways still offer such a service, but the only line that
might be somewhat relevant to you is Nice-Calais. Nice isn't far from
the Italian border, but it depends where you starting point in Italy
is of course. From Calais just follow the E40 motorway to Ghent (about
1 hour driving).
You should check out the DB Autozug offering. One of the stations they
serve in Germany is Düsseldorf, and that's not too far from Belgium -
if you drive outside rush hour you're about 2-2.5 hours away from
Ghent.
