I have heard that to do both the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula is
redundant (we will only be in Ireland for a week). Which one is better? Is
it really redundant to do both?

They both have a lot to offer. But with just a week, I'd take Dingle. Two
years ago, I spent 3 weeks visiting 70 Early Christian sites just on the
western end of the Iveragh peninsula (Ring of Kerry) from Caherciveen to
Caherdaniel. To do the "Ring" justice (including the required trip out to
Skellig), will take you too long. Go for Dingle.

I agree. The ring is good, but overrated.
But see if you can work the route from Killarney to Kenmare into your
itinerary.

I second that. The tight, slow roads are more than made up for by the beauty
of the scenery. Watch out for sheeps.
