How to make train reservation from North America with Eurail Select Pass Saver?

Hello all,

I'll take TGV from Calais to Paris, Lourdes to Rome for example, how
can I make reservation (as required) with Eurail Select Pass Saver?
Can I buy the pass first and make reservation later when I am in
Europe or I have to do it now? If now, then how?

Thanks

Why not just call SNCF? They have English-speaking staff, if that's a
concern.

As Desmond pointed out SNCF is the French national railway. Go to
www.sncf.fr and click on the little British flag to get their
English-language site. (The link to the English version apparently
works only with Internet Explorer; at least, I couldn't get it to work
using Mozilla.)

I assume you'll want their Canadian number, which is 1-800-361-RAIL.

That's Rail Europe's Canadian number, not SNCF. You can book with them
if you wish - you may buy your pass from them. However, you will pay
more for your reservation fee than if you wait until you get to Europe.

The Rail Europe site says:
    > The reservation cost varies. Fees begin at US$11/CAD$19 per person per train
    > and may be higher depending on the train and route.
http://www.raileurope.com/canada/rail/index.htm

We paid 3 euros reservation fee in France (about $5 Canadian) last
spring.

In addition, you might pay a handling / delivery charge. We did book one
train ahead in Canada (the Eurostar between Paris and London) but we
bought it and our rail pass at TravelCuts with no handling / delivery
charge.

Unless you are travelling on a very popular day (Friday afternoon or
just before a holiday) or have an extremely tight schedule, why not wait
until you are there to get your train reservations?

Either:

1. Through the agent or distributor in North America who is selling you
the pass. Advantage = you'll be assured that everything is secured before
setting off. Disadvantage = Much higher costs (plus at least an extra USD
10 per person, per journey, handling fee) than...
2. Book at the station(s) once you get to Europe. Advantage = much
cheaper reservation fees. Disadvantage = a possibility of trains being
sold out.

Unlikely as they won't book just pass holder fares or reservations only
by phone (or internet) due to the very low costs involved...

I'll be in London then take ferry to Calais then TGV to Paris. Can I
book reservation by phone from London or have to be in person at
Calais?

Rail Europe Travel Centre, 178 Piccadilly London or
Calais Ville/Fréthun station

It's not your browser. The link doesn't exist.

That's the French for you. (Not that I'm anti-French, moi?)

Your info is valuable to me.
The train travels from Lourdes to Rome is TRN Mainline Train,
according to Eurorail. So What is TRN and do I need to make
reservation for seat and couchette for the night? If I do then where?

I also plane to go from Venice to Karlsruhe, please tell me where to
book to.

Thank you very much. Your answers save me lot of potential troubles

TRN is simply a long distance train, reservations recommended for seats
and necessary for couchettes/sleepers. Again you can book at Rail Europe
in London or any station in France.

Possibly Rail Europe or in France, if not locally in Venice.
