Hindus opposing EU swastika ban

The Nazi version of the swastika
The Nazis hijacked the symbol from its Hindu origins
Hindus in Europe have joined forces against a German proposal to ban
the display of the swastika across the European Union, a Hindu leader
said.

Ramesh Kallidai of the Hindu Forum of Britain said the swastika had
been a symbol of peace for thousands of years before the Nazis adopted
it.

He said a ban on the symbol would discriminate against Hindus.

Are they also going to ban all symbols that look like a swastika?

Urban legend. The Hindu ones go both ways. The Nazis got it
(indirectly) from the Hindus anyway.

As if the average person can tell the difference. Those right angles hit the
eye.

Not to nit-pick, but isn't the swastika symbol found in
Native American art, also? (That existed long before Europe
ever discovered North America.)

Of course, I've always questioned some people banning
Wagner's music because Hitler liked it. True, Wagner may
have been an anti-Semite (although he certainly hired plenty
of Jewish musicians), but he died long before Hitler was
even born!

It's found closer to home. I remember we went on a school trip to see a
"Swastika Stone" near Leeds, carved by what we called "Ancient Britons".
