Good price on a flight from London to Rome

What's a good price for a R/T London-Rome direct each way? I know I
can get pretty cheap fares w/Ryan Air, but I'd prefer BA, as I'm
accumulating FF miles with them, or at least a major airline, where I
can get a seat assigned and deal with major airports, etc.
Right now, with taxes, these tickets are about US$200 on the majors.
I'm going in late March, so I have time to wait...I just don't know
what I'm waiting for!
Thanks!

If it were me, I would lock it in for the dates and times you need on BA for
$200 right now. Last year I paid $180 on Alitalia in April. BA had a
similar fare, but was sold out at their lowest rates (I booked a two or
three months in advance) for the times I needed. Even the RyanAirs and
EasyJets of this world can start to get expensive for popular dates fairly
quickly. And don't forget to factor in the cost of getting back and forth
to the different airports--which can start to add up in London.
If you are booking from the U.S., try to look at the website (or agency)
that will get tickets to you, if you need paper tickets, with the lowest
possible mailing/FedExing fee. I think I paid about $20 with Expedia, but I
think OneTravel charges $13.
P.S. (Flying Alitalia was an incredible hassle--they kept cancelling
flights without offering an alternative. I wound up having to call them
several times--often 30-minute phone calls--to keep arranging alternatives
for myself, which ultimately involved having to shuttle between Gatwick and
Heathrow both directions).

Check out Easyjet -- they are a discount British airline with VERY low
fares. They fly to Rome; check out their website: www.easyjet.com

There seem to be consistent bad reports about Alitalia. IIRC, they had
an engine fire (just after takeoff, and it was successfully
extinguished) on a plane last year. The pilot actually asked for a
show of hands from the passengers to see if they felt like flying back
to the airport!!!!!
Personally, I found the food to be surprisingly bad too. Not as bad as
Aeroflot, but pretty bad.

had "veggie food".. Like you my wife think alitalia to be one of the
worse airline on this planet!.

Thanks for the tip. Yeah, maybe I will just book it now and be done
with it. Even on EasyJet and RyanAir, tickets will run about half as
much, and I'd just as soon pay more, deal with a major airline and
major airports.
Thanks to the others for the warnings on Alitalia (did I get that
right? I know the airline you mean, certainly!)--I will avoid them!!
