Good destination around Christmas?

actually the christmas markets are closed as of December 24 so if you
are there after that it is not festive. Everything is closed the 25
and 26th in most of europe as well.

are there after that it is not festive. Everything is closed the 25

Really? How fortunate that I spent Christmas Day in Brussels, then!
True, there were no more Christmas fairs, but practically everything on
the Grand Place and in nearby areas was open and doing a thriving
business. (Largely for the benefit of British tourists, if their
English accent was any indication.) There was certainly no limit to the
choice of restaurants in which to have Christmas Dinner!
As for this next December, when I hope to spend the holiday in Vienna,
the Staatsoper is doing "Boheme" on the 25th, so "everything" is not
closed there, either.
