My wife and I, native USians, are planning an August 2005 trip to the
World Science Fiction Convention, and also want to visit our ancestral
homeland (she's a Sinclair, and I'm a Macfarlane).
The convention is in early August in Glasgow, and three hotels abut
the Convention Center. Of those, we are interested in the City Inn and
the Campanile.
A comparison of those facilities on all grounds but the price of the
room would be truly appreciated by the collected wisdom herein.
Thank you kindly.

Both hotels are relatively newly built and overlook the river. They
are out of the bustle of the city centre but there is transport into
town, both bus and train. Either would be fine. The Campanile is part
of a French Hotel group
I would suggest a phone call to either to ascertain rates
44 141 240 1002 City Inn
44 141287 7700 Campanile
44 being the international code for the UK
Hope this helps!

I stayed at the City Inn about 3 years ago. It is, indeed, very close to
the Convention Centre.
The rooms were a reasonable size, en suite, with a sitting area (the couch
opens out to an extra bed), TV, tea-making facilities, etc.
Breakfast was not included in the price, but there's a restaurant
downstairs (VERY pricey, though).
The place was clean and well-maintained, but characterless.
I'm not familiar with the Campanile.
